Life Hacks
for preschoolers

Mark the day you learned this life hack! I absolutely adore utilizing these shampoo bottles with pumps for water play. Use a shallow bin if you don't have an official water table. I like to put 2-3 tbs of dish soap into the container and then fill the rest of the way with water. I start off with some regular water in the table and then when the use their muscles to squirt the contents, they see the suds forming. You can also have fun with the temperature of the water, just be sure to use good judgement on temperatures. Food coloring is another variable you can try using with this life hack.

All the time I hear people complaining about the plethora of remote controls they have at their house. If you have one that you are not using and maybe don't even remember what device it goes to.... let your child play with it! It helps strengthen their coordination as they press their tiny fingers to the buttons. I usually tape the battery cover into place so it doesn't get lost. This is also great because they will expand their imagination through this play. So you can get away with just giving them the remote and they will probably find tons of entertainment from it, or you could opt to step it up a little. You could make a TV out of a cardboard box. If you have a really really large box, you could make a TV out of it, and if there are several children involved in the play, some kids could pretend to put a show on for the others, and they could take turns "changing" the channel. I have also printed out a picture of a TV, laminated it and hung it on the wall. I am a little extra.... and I cut out the screen of the TV, and made it so that the children could interchange pictures of themselves on the TV. Whichever way you do it, they will have a blast! And you will probably find it pretty amusing to watch that you might just turn off the real TV.....
