In times like these, seeing the same space can get old. Cardboard Creations is a great way to reinvent your space.

Life Hacks
for one year olds

Do you ever find yourself throwing away your Parmesan container but you feel like you could use it for something else....? I have! You can use it for sooo many things. One of the things that I like to use it for is as a piggy bank of sorts. Especially one year olds, can be entertained by interacting in what I call bank action which I define as the action of placing one item into a slot or hole. It is great for strengthening their fine motor skills, and you can swap the item to keep it interesting. The container is see through and the label comes off super easy. The lid comes with holes on one side which is great for things like straws or pipe cleaners or you could use the larger open side for stuff like Popsicle sticks. The larger side also comes in handy for the children to be able to access the contents themselves once they are ready to start over again.

Fly Swatter Bubbles
At the age of one, bubbles are magical! The only problem is at this age point, they cannot blow the bubbles themselves. This method allows them to make bubbles in a different way. This does involved large arm movements with an object so make sure that you are aware of others being nearby. I advise to do this outdoors, as it will get messy and it is safer. The soapy water will make most floors very slippery which could result in an injury.

You will need: a bucket, all plastic fly swatter (key for not rusting), water, dish soap

Directions: Fill container with an inch of water. Add desired amount of dish soap. Demonstrate dipping the fly swatter into the solution and waving it back and forth through the air. Then let them try!
These sensory bottle are great for a hard to tackle sense, smell. It's not easy to provide something for your kids that will be safe for them and is not going to start to spoil if lost. All you do is save your spice bottle when you are done. Rinse well with soap and water. Remove label. Place desired scent wax into container glue the lid back on. They will likely also enjoy the clicking of the lid and the rattling of the wax. I have used this with one year old all the way up to preschool. The children can have fun smelling it without being able to place it in their mouth. Open discussions about descriptor words. "That smells really sweet!"
