Hospital Bag: What I recommend packing.

Mommy's Bag:

-Glasses/Contacts (case, solutions)

-Medications

-Tooth Brush, Toothbrush

-Breath Mints - This should not replace brushing your teeth, but they will definitely come in handy if your mouth gets dry and all the potentially surprise visitors.

-Hair Ties

-Hair Brush

-Phone

-Phone charger with long cord

-Extra bags for things people bring you

-Shower Sandals - I was sooooo glad I brought these!

-Always Discreet Boutique Adult Diapers: I strongly recommend this one! I had a C section and it was not bad on the incision. When I researched before hand, women kept swearing by the giant pads that the hospital gave you and the breathable underwear they were paired with. I was skeptical so I brought my own solution, just in case... So the time came where I needed to get up and go to the bathroom. The used pad fell into the toilet... fun. Then trying to lean over and place the new pad into these sorry excuse for "breathable" underwear. Not fun. Painful. When round 2 came, I grabbed the Always Discreet Boutique Adult Diapers that I had brought. I was able to "lasso" them myself and save myself a lot of embarrassment being able to self help myself better.

-Breast Pump

-Nipple Guards

-Lip balm: You will be surprised how dry your lips can get during all this.

-Cardigan/sweat shirt to throw on if you get cold

-Nursing bra

-Nursing pads

-Nipple cream

-Nursing pillow

-Makeup - It was not something I was worried about... but some girls definitely would be.

-Snacks: They have food available but you are not guaranteed to have access to your favorite, so if there is something you specifically like to munch on, bring it.

-3 changes of clothes: I would advise against anything like jeans that might hug your sensitive areas.

-Coming home outfit

Baby's Bag:

-Picture Outfit

The hospital will have everything you need for the baby. They have wipes, diapers, blankets, hats, onesies, formula, bottles. The nurses often prefer you don't bring a ton of stuff for them because, then they have to keep track of it when it gets dirty and such. There really is no need to bring anything for the baby besides what you would like to take pictures of them in. And a car seat to take them home in.

Partner's Bag:

-A Gift for Her - She will absolutely love it, if you bring her something that expresses how grateful you are for the sacrifices she has made to bring this new life into the world. You should know what would speak to her. Whether it's a rose, or something she has been craving ever since all this started.... or a ring with the baby's gem stone...

-Medications

-Glasses/Contacts (case, solutions)

-Phone

-Phone charger

-A camera - most phones these days have a camera to it. We brought my fancy camera and I was so glad we did. The nurses were taking shots for us and we have the best mementos from that.

-Car Seat

-Snacks

-Wallet with cash. Be sure to bring cash. Vending machines don't always take a card. Tipping delivery guys, parking garage.
