Night Light Options
I never thought about having a night light for a child would be a problem. That's who they are meant for, right...? Then I become a mother.... So I went to the store, and I stood for a long time in front of my many many options. I finally bought the GE Plug In. As most people, our plugs are down low in most room, so what did she do...? Yup, yank them out on repeat. That can't be good. Not safe that she now has access to that outlet, and driving me a little crazy putting it back into place over and over. I wanted her to have a dim light in her room that she could sleep through, but if she woke up, she wasn't tripping around her room getting hurt.

I did a shout out and my aunt came up with the Light It! by Folcrum option. I haven't gotten around to getting it because my genius husband came up with a parent hack. I do still think it's a great option, so I have attached the info on getting one, and I may get one for travel purposes. If I do, I will update this article and do a product review. The reason that I found it appealing is that we really wanted a night light that would turn itself on when it got dark in her room, because we don't need another thing to activate as we are trying to tip toe out of the room while my daughters fades into sleep. This light has that as an option. It is rechargeable so it doesn't require that it be plugged in. That opens my options of where I can put it because I don't have to worry about putting it on a surface that will block her from pulling the cord. It is magnetic, and can be used as a flashlight. Really neat and pretty affordable.
So back to the parent hack my husband came up with. We use command strips and hooks a lot!

Don't be surprised if you see more parent hacks, using them. I really like the GE plug in night light option because it seemed safe because there is no glass lightbulb involved. But as I said above, she was able to pull it out over and over. So my husband's solution was to take two command hooks and attached them to the outlet using the command strips as shown in the attached picture. It holds the nightlight in place and my daughter can't take it out of the socket anymore. It works great! Try it out if you are faced with the same dilemma!
