I went about six months after my daughter was born before I finally gave in and got a diaper genie. I had done a lot of research and it seemed that a lot of people were saying that they were a waste of time and money.

Now that I've had mine, I strongly disagree. I wish I had gotten one from the start. The key is to get the version that has a step pedal that opens the top hatch. That would be a deal breaker for me. Another aspect that may affect the usefulness of this product may be the size of people's house. My solution would be have a couple and keep them in the spaces that you utilize with your child. The off brand bag refills work great with my Elite.
