
Maybe I'm the only one, but I often find myself having extra battery operated door bells around my house. If not, you can always go to your nearest store and find one.
Directions: If you are one on one with a child, you can hide the sound part yourself and let the child go find it. If you are in a group setting, let one child hide the sound part. When they are done hiding it, give them the button. Then select another child to go find where the sound piece is. When they have found it, let them go back into the space and hide it, and just keep repeating that.
This activity is a great opportunity for the children to find something using their hearing. I have never met a four year old that hasn't loved playing this game.
I also appreciate that it is an easy activity to hand off to another teacher if you know you are going to be out of your class because it is easy to explain quickly and the kids are practically guaranteed to engage in it.
